Exciting news! As a board member at The Museum of

Exciting news! As a board member at The Museum of Russian Art @themuseumofrussianart in Minneapolis, I recently suggested offering free admission for Indigenous people—and they’ve already updated the website to make it happen!

During my solo exhibition there, the museum loved seeing so many Indigenous folks come through and are eager to keep welcoming our community. Let’s keep showing up and supporting the arts in our community~

They also have an upcoming workshop to write letters of support to detainees in Russia who were imprisoned for protesting the war in Ukraine and write to US voters to protect democracy here! (Second slide)

PS This is the second institution that has made admission for Indigenous peoples after I've asked while working with them. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is the other! Every cultural/art institution should consider their ability to build community and honor Native land/peoples by removing such barriers! #honornativeland

Wopida tanka to everyone who joined us last night

Wopida tanka to everyone who joined us last night on the Dakota legacy boat cruise on the Mississippi. We had a great time sharing stories passed down to us from our ancestors while being on the mighty Wakpa Tanka.

The seasons change, waters flow but our connections to the river will always remain and we appreciate the opportunity to share our stories so we can create a better future where Dakota teachings continue to motivate us to be good relatives to Grandmother Earth.

It always fills my spirit to spend the evening on the river sharing stories with @tanagidantowin/ @bluehummingbirdwomanllc and @fern_renville, two strong and gracious Dakota wiŋyaŋ ✨⭐

And due to popular demand, we added a final Dakota legacy boat cruise for the season in October but the spots already filled up right away. See you then, enjoy the fall! For unknown reasons, I never imagined myself having an art studio, but after my recent trip to Latvia, I’ve realized it’s time to step into the next chapter, so I just picked up the keys to my studio by the river!

There’s so much happening, and I’m excited to share each journey with you! Here’s a quick preview – I’ll share more details as each event gets closer:

• Sept 21: Debut of my next major Augmented Reality installation at @franconiamn Sculpture Park (Joyce Award Project).

• Sept & Oct: Artist-in-Residence at Dakota County Libraries, where I’ll be working with the community to create a cradleboard that represents our collective connections to a better future.

• October 4: Augmented Reality installation opens at @tulsaartistfellowship in Oklahoma.

• This Fall: Augmented Reality installation coming to the Bell Museum of Natural History and Planetarium.

• This Fall: Collaborative community art projects on Dakota reservations.

• This Fall: Opening of the Creation Story exhibition at SDSU.

• November: I’m also working on something really exciting—my very first fashion show!

Over the years, I've gathered Dakota artifacts (18

Over the years, I've gathered Dakota artifacts (1849-1930s) with the intention of returning them home to our people at the Spirit Lake Dakota Nation. Yesterday, that vision became a reality as these precious pieces found their way back to their rightful place at Cankdeska Cikana Community College. A heartfelt thank you to the outgoing President, Dr. Cynthia Lindquist, for her incredible work in fostering the connections needed to make this happen and all the wonderful people coming together to celebrate 50 years of our tribal college.

In Dakota, we don’t have a word for "art"—instead, we use the word šičúŋ, meaning a star gift, a talent we carry from the stars and leave behind in our creations even after we return to the stars. By bringing these artifacts home, we honor our ancestors and ensure that their spirit lingers on for future generations to learn from and be inspired by.

This isn’t the end; it’s just the beginning of a journey. The new art center at Cankdeska Cikana will now be the perfect home for these pieces—so our stories continue to be told and our star gifts keep shining brightly.

(I stopped at the sacred Standing Rock in North Dakota on top of 2,000 burial mounds as an offering to our ancestors as the items made their final journey back home to Dakota people.)

Sharing this augmented reality video I created during my time in Latvia to capture some of the inspiring people and places I visited. Seeing @dons_lv live still feels like a dream! His music, combined with the energy of his fans, was worth every mile of the journey. ✨

I included a few clips from his concert, with translations using Google Translate, though the beauty of the Latvian language shines through without needing to understand every word. 🎶

You might spot a few familiar elements from a past animated music video I created—couldn’t resist reusing them because they perfectly captured how I felt! Enjoy! ✈️🌍

I found a ghost in Latvia?? Took a break from the beautiful architecture of Riga to visit the Provodnik factory building that is semi-abandoned besides the artists who use it as their studio.

I find beauty in buildings like this. Anyway, if you scroll to the 9 slide, in the video, I'm walking up a flight of stairs and in the recording, you can hear a flute but there was definitely no music playing in the building when we were there in person. It was so quiet.

We went into that door in the video and walked down a long dark hallway. The 10th video is me swiping thru my sister's phone as she was taking pictures of me. There is a green glowing rod that is following me in those pictures (and sometimes it's gone before moving away entirely).

Do you think those two things are signs of paranormal activities? I'd love to hear people's opinions, I'm freaked out 😱😆

Added this Dakota floral vest to my collection of items I'm donating to my tribe's new cultural center addition to the community college. These items will be home among Dakota people again and the next generations can appreciate and study them in person. The last two images show the other items (3 beaded purses, beaded moccasins, a pair of quillwork gauntlets and moccasins)

Huge wopida to everyone who joined us for the firs

Huge wopida to everyone who joined us for the first Navigating Dakota Legacy - A Cruise Through Time & Culture Along the the Wakpá Tháŋka (Mississippi River); it felt great to feel the wind and the movement of the water along the beautiful bluffs of Imníža Ská (St. Paul, City of White Bluffs).

Honoring the strength and wisdom of Dakota women, it was a privilege to share the evening with @bluehummingbirdwomanllc and @fern_renville, as we shared our ancestors' influential lifeways. A special shoutout to Diane Wilson, author of "The Seed Keeper," for being in the audience as we shared stories celebrating our ancestors' legacy. @floresdemiel2 served us delicious native plant tea!

The river's timeless connection between past and present made for an unforgettable experience, seeing the white bluffs of St. Paul through the eyes of our ancestors. We have two more sold out cruises coming up and can't wait to return to the river again! Thanks to @mplscommed for organizing!
