So much joy in one space, live music, feeding the community, and bringing art directly to the people. That is what power looks like.

Huge thank you to the youth who helped bag up 100 art packs for the community giveaway. Y'all showed up and made it happen! 🖤

It was incredible to see so many folks come out to get my design and support the positive message. The vendors had a great time, the energy stayed high, and the vibes were splendid all night.

This is why the Mni Owe Sni Bdote camp matters. T

This is why the Mni Owe Sni Bdote camp matters.

The camp is not just tipi lodges on the land. It is a stand by the Native community to return these lands. It is prayer. It is presence. It is a refusal to let our creation site be quietly managed without us. It is Dakota and Lakota relatives saying this place is alive, sacred, and we want to come home.

Before Fort Snelling.
Before the Dakota concentration camp.
Before the threat of that same carceral violence rising again at the Whipple Building.
Before our creation site was turned into "recreational" space.

Bdote.

Bdote means where two waters meet, the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers. It also means our first breath as a baby. It is the center of the world for Dakota people. It is our creation story. This is origin.

The Mississippi River is reflected above as the spirit road, the path our spirits travel to and from this world. What flows below flows above, kapemni.

What lives here echoes in the sky. Our 7 council fires, the Oceti Sakowin, burn eternal in the Big Dipper, known as the sacred pipe and the burial scaffold constellation. Our governance is written in the stars.

Today there is a dog park at Bdote, yet no protected ceremonial space for Dakota women. No bark lodge. No sacred space restored for the life givers of our nation.

We are told there are millions planned for a "River Learning Center." If millions can be secured for a learning center, Dakota people cannot be forgotten in restoring our own sacred space. We cannot watch funding flow into buildings while ceremony remains displaced.

Dakota women's ceremonies are foundational. Bdote is our sacred birthing island. Denying ceremony here is continued dispossession.

Grandmother Earth is calling us back. Birthing medicines are returning. Bdote must be restored as living Dakota land with protected space for ceremony.

Land back means ceremony back.
Land back means Dakota governance at Bdote.
Land back means Dakota women have space again at the center of the world.

If there is land for a dog park and millions for a river center, there must be land and resources for Dakota ceremony.

Restore Bdote.

After watching the Olympics yesterday, I just want

After watching the Olympics yesterday, I just wanted to say that Ilia Malinin is a true artist. He does not just land jumps, he makes us feel something. When he soars, we feel that joy with him. And last night, we felt the heartbreak too.

But heartbreak is part of being human. It is an emotion so many people carry quietly, and there is power in seeing it expressed instead of hidden. Watching him show that he is not an invincible robot, but a real person who feels deeply, only expands his artistry. That vulnerability will open new doors in his journey, and we will grow alongside him toward something even more meaningful and healing.

I've been lucky to see @ilia_quadg0d_malinin skate in person twice (sharing my video from last year). He's going on tour across the US after the Olympics on Stars on Ice, don't miss him, he's definitely worth seeing in your lifetime! #olympics #iliamalinin #figureskating

The Oceti Sakowin (Dakota and Lakota people) have

The Oceti Sakowin (Dakota and Lakota people) have just established a tipi camp at Mni Owe Sni/Coldwater Spring, directly across from the Whipple Building, where ICE is detaining and deporting community members.

All are welcome (except you know who) to come in support of humanity as good relatives. The camp is currently in need of supplies: firewood, fire pits, and cots. Police were already present last night, harassing Native people who were watching the camp overnight... It would be good to have more folks watching over the space.

This is Dakota homelands. Mni Owe Sni, Cold Water Springs, is a sacred ceremonial site. Please come with respect, intention, and care for the land and for one another.

I just wanted to say thank you for supporting the poets from my Native Voices of Power exhibition. We sold 130 prints and raised $6500 that is split 50/50 with the poets and my Dakota publishing company @wiyounkihipi, which will go towards supporting knowledge keepers!

I'm packaging up all orders today and shipping out tomorrow, so if you're waiting on your tracking, I appreciate your patience.

I had planned to have a chill January months ago to focus on this exhibition but many things are happening in Minnesota that none of us were expecting!

It's been powerful to witness how Minnesotans have

It's been powerful to witness how Minnesotans have come together in the face of tyranny. As an artist, I’m grateful to be able to lend my skills in service of community and collective care. Thousands of people have shown up, stood together, and created space for one another.

Wopida to the journalists and local, national, and international outlets that have taken the time to listen and share this work. @racket_mn interviewed me, @hyperallergic highlighted our community screenprinting, and @taz.die_tageszeitung included my words as they carried Minnesota's voices across the ocean to Germany.

This work has been made alongside so many others, including @skoden_studio and @artpricestudio, and many artists, volunteers and community members who continue to show up. We are power.

Thank you to everyone who came out today for the @skoden_studio screenprinting event! It was so good to spend time together in community, sharing space, stories and good vibes.

For those who could not make it today because of the big march downtown, we will be back next Thursday and Friday at the @mpls.americanindiancenter (2-6:30)

I love doing these in person. Being together in a safe, welcoming space matters. I will bring more buttons, iron-on patches, and a few extra goodies next week too.

Also mark your calendars: there is an MMIR march on February 14, Courtney will have her MMIR screenprinting design available on Thursday and Friday so you can get things ready for that march as well. Community shows up for community. ❤️
